Islamabad: Pakistan has finally declared alleged Mumbai terror attack’s mastermind Hafiz Mohammed Saeed under a new ordinance.

President Mamnoon Hussain signed the new ordinance paving the way for the government to proceed against suspected masterminds of the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

Officials said the new ordinance meant that all those individuals and entities listed by the United Nations also stand banned under Pakistani laws.

The government did not give any details on what action could be taken against Saeed but police removed barricades outside the Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) chief’s house on Tuesday.

Under the existing provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act, groups sanctioned by the UN Security Council were not automatically listed as terrorist organisations in Pakistan. The ordinance amends Sections 11B and 11EE to include groups that have been sanctioned by the UN Security Council.
